An Archival Impulse by Hal Foster (2004)

This is a great paper, discussing how artists like Tacita Dean and Thomas Hirschhorn use the idea of the archive in their work. Accumulating, as I am, stacks of materials from observations, the idea of storing and managing those in an archive is of interest. At this stage it seems more appropriate to have a kind of investigation room rather than an archive, one filled with noticeboards and notecards like in a murder investigation.
