So what am I actually trying to do?

What I’m thinking about right now, though it’s far from clear, is something like this:

I’m trying to build a situated cognition, Edwin Hutchins (Cognition in the Wild, 1995)-style model of mathematics and mathematical communication, using relevance theory to show how collaboration and externalised thought is actually happening every time that somebody writes, speaks, publishes etc. though from the outside it would tend to appear that it’s not, and considering questions of language ideology to talk about why it looks like it’s not.
